Post-pandemic boom

Buying a bike: “It’s the best thing I’ve ever bought,” says 57-year-old Jude in this @BBCNews article. Hey Jude, well said my friend! Maintaining the cycling boom, post-pandemic has got to be a priority to get people moving, to get our congested roads moving. The more cycle lanes, the more bikes, the more bikes, the less 4-wheeled vehicles and the more that encourages more people to ride instead of drive.  I think it’s called a virtuous circle. https://buff.ly/2ZdKO7e #bikeboom #bike #cycle

E-cargo deliveries

It’s always tricky to disagree with anything @Chris_Boardman ever says (that’s not a challenge by the way!) but incentivising the use of e-cargo bikes for deliveries has got to be a win, win, win, situation surely? How could anyone in their right minds disagree with that? The amount of delivery vans on our roads is just bonkers. https://buff.ly/3dI6MV1 #ebikes #ebike #bike

Finally, bike routes will be added to Apple Maps in its next iOS update. This will no doubt please pedalling #AppleHeads. But you have to ask yourself, why did it take so long and why was it not a priority? https://buff.ly/3fVhvNl #bike #apple #cyclinglife

Voucher progress

There’s been a little bit of progress with the Government’s “Fix Your Bike Voucher Scheme”. Repairers have now been invited to register to make voucher repairs. Being able to actually get your hands on a voucher and use it, is a way off yet. “Sometime in the summer” … apparently. Maybe? Definitely? Possibly? https://buff.ly/3fMjQtL #bike #bikefix

Bike fix vouchers

Remember the government’s promise of “£50 Fix Your Bike vouchers”  back in May? There’s still no sign of them. Where are they? Not another empty promise, surely? https://buff.ly/37Bk2td #bike #bikelife

Bizarre Bazaar

All aboard the Bizarre Bike Bazaar! Quite interesting to get a different perspective on bike buying from tech/lifestyle site @WiredUK. Some groovy looking bikes but eccentric and hyper-expensive accessories. A tad bizarre. https://buff.ly/3d9SuvU #bikes #cyclinglifestyle

Liquid gold

It’s hard to imagine how oiling your chain can be made to sound so complex… and expensive apparently. I mean, £70 for a bottle of oil? – that really is liquid gold. Here’s a chain lube buyer’s guide: https://buff.ly/3htNhmh – Some good tips there, but how hard can it really be?! Let’s try not to make it into some dark art when it’s just oiling your chain to make it run smoother. #bike #cyclinglife

Agile bike business

Here’s a nice blog post from @CyclingUK arguing convincingly that an agile business is a business that encourages cycling. Amen to that. https://buff.ly/30ubOBB #bike #cycling #bikeweek #bikeweek2020
