Uber anger

Uber is crushing and throwing away their older Jump bikes in the USA, just because it’s “too difficult” to recycle them. Just the waste. Horrendous. They are crushing them, yes, crushing bikes.  Perfectly good bikes. They may look a bit strange but there’s nothing wrong with them and they’re usable.  Who makes these decisions? #heartbreak or #anger What do you feel? https://buff.ly/2AcsOl2 #bike #CyclingLifestyle

Steel is real

It’s a bit niche, I can’t deny, but here’s a selection of some beautiful steel-framed road bikes to salivate over. Why not have some fun and decide which is your favourite? The Colnago has that classic look and makes you want to swoon, and the Holdsworth frame is nice but now you know it’s owned by Planet X it doesn’t quite fee the same. The Shand Cycles Stoater for me looks stylish and is practical for everyday riding and off-roading. It’s the one that I’d be saving my pennies for if I had any! Dream on… 😥 https://buff.ly/2Y3BWR1 #SteelisReal #bike

Bike mechanics please?

This is a good indicator of the change that is sweeping the country. Along with bike sales going through the roof, it seems the world is also very short of bike mechanics! As well as buying them, people have been getting them out the shed and finding them seized up and not working well. If you’ve got some skills and knowledge, get yourself out there fixing bikes! https://buff.ly/2MA2hk1 #bike #BikeLife #Cycle

Brave new bike world

There’s definitely something strange going on out there in the Bike World. You only have to look outside your window and there are more people riding bicycles than ever – all sorts of bikes ridden by all sorts of people, everywhere. Not just that, but there are people in power saying things about transport policy that they don’t normally say. They are giving away vouchers to get your bike fixed and it seems that bike shops just can’t cope with it all – especially with all the additional restrictions and difficulties in place around Covid-19. So strange as it may

Push for cycling

The @BBCNEWS are reporting here the “Push for Cycling”, which is brilliant – but do we really need the insinuation of safety concerns when you’re more likely to be injured gardening than you are cycling on UK roads? It’s great that cycling is shown to be at the forefront of the agenda, but lets not put barriers in the way. #bike #CyclingLife #RoadSafety https://buff.ly/3e0wZyI

Sustrans tool

Here’s a great story as @sustrans has created a tool to let people share their views on newly created emergency cycling and walking infrastructure. Wouldn’t it be great to keep that infrastructure in place and have a legacy that creates some good out of all the bad stuff that has happened during the Corona Crisis. #bike #CyclingLife #ActiveTravel https://buff.ly/36o1snu

Pollution solution

We must find a way to keep bikes safer on the roads once lockdown has lifted. Although, you’re more likely to have an accident gardening than you are cycling on UK roads, the public perception is that iit is unsafe. It’s been one of the major benefits of lockdown, reduced car traffic and pollution – let’s make sure we try and keep some of that good stuff. #bike #cyclinglife #roadpeace https://buff.ly/2XnFvkJ

Commuting tyres

What are the best tyres for commuting? Here’s a great guide, but be warned, only use the Schwalbe Marathon Plus if you enjoy riding through treacle! I’ve used them, and you instantly notice how much harder it is to ride. And where would we be without good old Gatorskins. #bike #cyclinglife https://buff.ly/36nhpL0
